There will be a meeting of the Lewis Film Society in the Lanntair bar this evening ( April 1st no joke ) at 7.30pm to discuss the upcoming films,all welcome.
This month’s film on Tuesday the 29th of April is Vanishing Point ( imdb, wikipedia ) a 1971 road movie selected by Stornoway Cruise.
Last month’s feature Seachd and a local short was very successful with approximately 70 tickets sold.

The short film is part of the “Confluence” commission just completed for Taigh Chearsabhagh. Based on a Dohmnall Rubh Corunna poem Motor Boat Hallesgeir but….. the soundtrack incorporates a translation of the same into thelanguage of a landlocked country - Czech, read by the translator.
The concept is by Ian Stephen, the camerawork and editing are Andy Mackinnon of Taigh Chearsabhagh and the soundtrack by Ben Ziehm Stephen who is a student at Dartington College of the Arts.

Our first showing of 2008 was ‘Atanarjuat’ (The Fast Runner) held on 29th January in the Lanntair auditorium. The AGM was held on the same night with an attendance of about 15, a provisional list of members of the committee was drawn up and we will look to get volunteers for the posts of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary at our next meeting.
The films being looked at for our next showing of March 25th are Seachd, Whisky Galore and Rocket Post.
The next meeting of the committee is on the 4th of March in the Lanntair Bar, all welcome.
